IFPA, UFFVA Complete Merger to Form New 'United Fresh'
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The anticipated merger between the International Fresh-cut Produce Association and United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association here is officially complete, thus forming the United Fresh Produce Association.
The new organization, whose trade identify now becomes "United Fresh," will be led by a 46-member board combined from the previous boards of UFFVA and IFPA, with Maureen Torrey Marshall, Torrey Farms; and Mark Miller, Fresh From Texas, at the helm as co-chairmen. Emanuel Lazopoulos, Del Monte Fresh Produce, chairman-elect, and will assume the chairmanship of United Fresh in May.
UFFVA's longtime president and c.e.o., Tom Stenzel, heads the management staff of United Fresh, while former IFPA president Jerry Welcome serves as e.v.p./business development. Other IFPA and UFFVA staffers have also been aborbed into the new organization.
United Fresh said it will concentrate initially on: government relations, issues management and media advocacy; food safety/quality assurance/nutrition and health; innovation/business growth through increased produce sales and profitability; local/global services; and synergy, efficiency, and enhanced member value.
