Independent, but Not Alone

Earlier this month, Progressive Grocer and the National Grocers Association (NGA) launched the Independent Grocer Network, a social network for independent grocers and their wholesaler suppliers, and I am proud to say that membership activity on the site has far exceeded our expectations. Not only are the retailer-members contributing compelling, insightful content, but they are also engaging each other on the forums and groups. Just this past week alone, one grocery executive with marketing responsibilities created an  advertising and marketing group, which drew a dozen members within a couple of days, and which rapidly splintered into a related forum that generated a flurry of robust replies.

If early results are any indication, PG's and NGA's newly-launched Independent Grocer Network is off to a brisk and promising start!

I invite all independent grocers and wholesalers who read this to swing by the network and sign up — the conversations are for members only. And as it goes in Vegas, what happens within the confines of the site stays within the confines of the site — unless of course, you tell us otherwise that you'd like your views covered for the benefit of our larger Progressive Grocer audience.

You’ll find the network at www.independentgrocernetwork.com — see you there!
