Instacart Adds Sunset Foods to Chicagoland Service Area
Grocery delivery service Instacart has further expanded its service in Chicagoland with the addition of neighborhood grocer Sunset Foods.
Delivery from the location will be available to the suburbs of Long Grove, Libertyville, Highland Park and Lake Forest, and by Oct. 28 to Northbrook as well.
In addition to its same-day delivery, Instacart will also offer its “Click and Collect” service with Sunset Foods, through which customers can spend an additional $1.99 to place their orders online and have the groceries assembled in-store and available for pickup within an hour timeslot of their choice. Sunset also offers curbside pickup at its five locations.
“Sunset Foods is a terrific local neighborhood store, and one that our customers have been asking us to add to our growing list of grocers,” said Chicago City Manager Scott Holloway. “We’re excited to reach some major suburbs where Chicagoans have been clamoring to see our grocery delivery service in their neighborhood."
Chicago was the second city Instacart launched following its home base of San Francisco, and the company plans to double its crowdsourced fleet of personal shoppers in the area over the next two months.
Instacart is offering free delivery to customers on their first order of $10 or more. The company also provides an Instacart Express option, which consists of an annual membership of $99 and eliminates delivery fees for orders more than $35.
