Iowa Family Sues Supervalu, Alleging Snake Head Found in Green Beans
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- An Iowa family filed a lawsuit against Supervalu Inc. and a food manufacturer here seeking damages over a snake head the family claimed to have found in a can of green beans they said they bought in a Cub Foods store.
The Iowa City-based family, Amy and Michael Schneider and their four children are suing Supervalu and Manitowoc, Wis.-based Lakeside Foods. The entire family experienced mental anguish, according to the lawsuit that was filed Johnson County District Court.
According to press reports, Amy Schneider said she found the head, which she described as being the size of a golf ball, when she opened the can of green beans in March 2006. She said Lakeside Foods offered her some coupons after she registered complaints.
