IPC Video Mashups Showcase Spud-tacular Options
In a bid to tap into the popularity and viral potential of online videos, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) released three new videos showcasing the versatility and colorful variety of its growers' proprietary spuds.
Two of the videos utilize the up-close style of many popular online cooking videos, showing the process of making potato doughnut holes and potato and beet galette in a playful and stylistic manner. The third uses a unique kaleidoscopic approach to stop-motion video in order to demonstrate the colorful varieties of Idaho potatoes including Purple Peruvians, Russets, Fingerlings, Yukon Golds and Reds.
The Eagle, Idaho-based commission said it hopes to tap into the popularity of video consumption, citing statistics that say mobile video viewing increases 100 percent every year according to YouTube, and a study by Insivia that found 90 percent of viewers say video clips inform their purchasing decisions.
“With more and more consumers turning to videos for news and entertainment, we wanted to create culinary videos that stop consumers in their tracks that they can’t help but share through social media,” noted Frank Muir, IPC's president and CEO.
