J Vineyards Holds ‘Name That Pinot Noir Wine’ Contest

J Vineyards & Winery is inviting wordsmiths everywhere to enter its "Name That Pinot Noir Wine" contest through Twitter, Facebook, or email. The grand-prize winner will receive six bottles of the newly-named wine, and the top two finalists will each receive a $100 gift certificate for the J Visitor Center or online retail store.

"Our winemaking team has created a new 2012 multi-vineyard Estate Pinot Noir that is dark, cherry-red in color, and somewhat brooding and dense in flavor and aroma," said Melissa Stackhouse, VP of Winemaking at Healdsburg, Calif.-based J Vineyards. "We're in need of a fanciful name that evokes a bit of mystery and captures the spirit of Sonoma County's Russian River Valley."

The prize-winning name should be inspiring, and should capture the winery's artful and celebratory personality. Stackhouse noted that two years ago J Vineyards launched STRATA Estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, adding that “Of course, the word STRATA speaks to our owner, Judy Jordan, and her background as a geologist, as well as the diversity of Russian River Valley soils," Stackhouse said.

To enter, participants can email their idea to [email protected]; friend J Vineyards on Facebook and share their submission in the comment section; or tweet to @Jwinery. Entries will be accepted until midnight on Monday, Dec. 31. Finalists will be announced on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, and the overall winner on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. Participants must be 21 years or older to enter.
