K-VA-T's Food City Kicks Off Eighth Annual $100K Treasure Hunt
ABINGDON, Va. -- The folks at Food City, the regional banner operated by K-VA-T Food Stores here, have officially begun the chain’s annual Food City/Food Club $100,000 Treasure Hunt, which c.e.o. and president Steven C. Smith described as "one of [K-VA-T's] most unique and exciting promotions."
Now in its eighth year, Food City's Treasure Hunt Prize Team has awarded big cash prizes to winners throughout the chain’s southeast Kentucky, southwest Virginia, and northeast Tennessee market area.
During the 2006 campaign, Food City's Prize Team awarded a grand total of $102,300 in cash prizes.
This year's contest began Sept. 9 and continues through Oct. 27. Food City shoppers will gain automatic entry into the contest each time they purchase 10 or more Food City, Food Club, Paws, Valu Time, Full Circle, Top Care, World Classic, Top Crest, Dining In, Academix, Domestix, Electrix, and Easy Clix corporate brand products during the same shopping visit, using their Food City ValuCard, the company said.
Random winners will be selected throughout the contest period. The Food City Treasure Hunt Team will visit the homes of their perspective winners, and six winners will be given an opportunity to contend for cash prizes during the in-home visits. Prize winners receive $200 for presenting their Food City ValuCard to the Treasure Hunt Prize Team. An additional $100 is awarded for each Food City, Food Club, Paws, Valu Time, Full Circle, Top Care, World Classic, Top Crest, Dining In, Academix, Domestix, Electrix, and Easy Clix, and $200 for each Supreme Clean corporate brand product found in the winner's home (the total maximum prize payout is $10,000 per winner).
New to the contest this year, 10 finalists will also be selected to participate in a drawing for the grand-prize package. Two grand-prize winners will each receive $10,000. The remaining finalists will receive a $100 Food City gift card. One winner from each Food City location will also receive $500.
