Kings' 24-Hour Produce Program Returns
In support of its continued pledge to bring customers fresh, high-quality ingredients, Kings Food Markets is bringing back its 24 Hour Just Picked Promise program, beginning May 23 and continuing through Labor Day.
Through the program, Kings assures that produce bearing the 24 Hour Just Picked Promise seal is Iocally grown, farm-fresh and available to shoppers within 24 hours of being picked.
Judy Spires, Kings' president and CEO, said that the program allows the company to "redefine freshness," adding that "shoppers looking for the crispness, taste and nutrition that only comes from locally grown, fresh produce can come to Kings and look for our 24 Hour Just Picked Promise seal."
More than 25 regional farmers throughout New Jersey and Connecticut select fresh, seasonal products in the morning, and through an expedited distribution process, are delivered to Kings' stores and prepared for sale the next day, according to the company.
The items available at each store will vary daily, though customers can expect to find such summer staples as arugula, basil, cilantro, mint, blueberries, cucumbers, kale and tomatoes with the Just Picked Promise.
The program was developed in partnership with Massachusetts-based Red Tomato, a nonprofit committed to better connecting farmers and consumers.
Parsippany, N.J.-based Kings Food Markets operates 25 stores in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
