Laurel Grocery Co. Names Two Veeps

Wholesaler Laurel Grocery Company said it has named to industry vets to vice presidential posts.

Mark Schwinn has joined as v.p. of distribution. In his new position Schwinn, whose 30-year career includes stints with two other major wholesalers, is responsible for all warehousing and transportation functions, as well as transportation equipment maintenance at the company's London, Ky.-based London depot.

Laurel also said John McCurry joined as senior vice president of marketing. McCurry's career includes more than 30 years in senior management positions with various major retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers. In his new position, McCurry is responsible for the buying function of all products, as well as advertising and customer service.

"Laurel is very fortunate to have two men of this caliber join our company," said Jim Buchanan, president and c.e.o. of the family-owned wholesaler. "Laurel, with the addition of Mark and John, is now positioned to concentrate on better serving our retailers and growing our company."

Founded in 1922, Laurel Grocery Co. is a full-line food wholesaler supplying independent grocers in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and West Virginia.
