Loblaw Lowers Prices on Over 1,000 Items

Loblaw Cos. Ltd. this month has slashed more than 1,000 prices on grocery items customers buy most often at its Zehrs, Fortinos, Loblaws, Loblaw Great Food, and Your Independent Grocer banners in the province of Ontario.

The newly lower-priced items include Kraft Miracle Whip, Smucker's Jam, President's Choice Spring Water (Loblaw's private label brand), and Doritos.

"Loblaw knows that customers want and deserve value whenever they shop," said Loblaw v.p. public affairs Inge van den Berg. "To us, that means providing the same broad selection and high-quality service our customers trust, combined with great pricing so they can eat well while saving more."

The price reduction is permanent, and Loblaw is employing in-store signage and displays to promote the program, a company spokeswoman told Progressive Grocer.

Toronto-based Loblaw is Canada's largest food distributor and a leading provider of general merchandise, drug store and financial products and services. The company is one of the largest private-sector employers in Canada, employing with more than 140,000 full-time and part-time employees.
