Lowes Foods Extends Reach with Store in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Southeastern grocer Lowes Foods here opened its first store in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Oct. 10. The 47,000-square-foot "FreshSmart" store emphasizes fresh produce, meat, seafood, bakery and floral departments, and a deli with Boar's Head meats and cheeses.
Lowes Foods, which operates 105 stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, said it plans to open its second Myrtle Beach unit in 2008. The move further extends its operations along the coast of South Carolina.
In addition to its fresh selection, the store also has a wide variety of groceries, including gourmet and specialty items, and an extensive selection of beer and wine. Other highlights include a salad bar, prepared foods, natural and organic foods, nutritional supplements, and natural body care products.
Shoppers can place orders online with Lowes Foods To Go. When they're in the store, self-checkouts are available as an added convenience.
