Lunds and Byerly’s Enhance Food Safety with Electronic Monitors
Lund Food Holdings is enhancing food safety in its 28 Lunds and Byerlys grocery stores by deploying electronic monitors.
The stores are replacing a pen-and-paper-based food safety program with the SureCheck Advantage, an electronic food safety monitoring and intelligent checklist management solution from PAR Technology Corporation.
Chris Gindorff, the stores’ senior manager of Quality Assurance and Food Safety, said the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution “automates our Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) processes to improve efficiency, digitize our data, and proactively monitor all of our store’s quality and compliance.”
The change from pen-and-paper to electronic records helps the stores more easily comply with regulations mandated by the October 2015 federal Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The regulations require businesses to retain two years of food safety compliance records.
The electronic solution automates the operations, captures the required data in real-time and synchronizes it to a cloud-based enterprise for seamless, automated storage and recall of food safety records for management, maintenance, analytics, and auditing.
