Marsh Helps Folks Clean Out Their Medicine Cabinets

Midwestern grocery retailer Marsh is sponsoring its spring 2015 Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet event this month at all of its pharmacy locations.

Marsh pharmacies will be collecting and qualifying unwanted medications for free and proper disposal to help consumers protect themselves from accidental in-home poisonings and theft of unused medications, and rid themselves of expired or otherwise unneeded prescriptions.

All Marsh Pharmacy locations will accept unwanted medicines during regular pharmacy hours on Friday, March 20, through Monday, March 23. 

The following medicines will be accepted:

• Pills, capsules and liquids (no aerosols, inhalers, nitroglycerin or alcohol containing products).
• Medicine must be in original container with original label intact.
• Medicines that have the words "toxic," "corrosive," "reactive," "ignitable," "flammable" or "poison" will not be accepted.
• Only one type of medication can be in a single container, no mixtures.
• No pill organizers will be accepted.
• No controlled or illegal substances (check with your regular pharmacist if you’re not sure whether a medicine is controlled).
• Sharps collected only in re-sealable, hard-plastic containers.

This program is for individuals only; nothing will be accepted from health centers, clinics, doctor’s offices or other organizations. 

Indianapolis-based Marsh operates 68 Marsh supermarkets and three O’Malia’s Food Markets in Indiana and Ohio, and manages 7 MainStreet Market locations. Marsh is the largest Indiana-based pharmacy chain, with 39 locations.
