Marsh Partners with Indiana Pork Producers
Marsh Supermarkets and the Indiana Pork Producers’ Association are teaming up to raise awareness among their home state’s consumers about locally grown products.
The partnership, announced this week at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, includes labeling “Indiana Grown” pork burgers from more than 3,000 Hoosier hog farmers who will be supplying the product to Marsh stores.
“Indiana Pork is a great product from a great Indiana-based company that has been available at the Indiana State Fair for years and is now exclusively available in Marsh supermarkets,” said David Palmer, SVP of sales, marketing and advertising for the Indianapolis-based retailer that operates stores in Indiana and Ohio.
“This partnership is important because Marsh Supermarkets is also Indiana-grown,” Palmer said, noting that Marsh, celebrating its 85th anniversary this month, opened its first store in Muncie in 1931.
Local is Fresher
Palmer noted that Marsh carries hundreds of local products throughout its stores today and continuously looks for opportunities to source more products locally. “We believe that sourcing local is fresher and sourcing local is better, and that is why we partner with local farmers and manufacturers,” he said.
“As a longtime supporter of Indiana Grown and its members we are excited about the opportunity to exclusively offer Indiana Pork products to our shoppers,” Palmer continued. “We are happy to offer the famous pork burgers to Hoosier consumers and are looking forward to future Indiana Grown member partnerships.”
