Marsh Targets Tailgater Wellness
Purdue Boilermaker fans can take advantage of free health screenings on the Friday before each Purdue home football game this season, thanks to Marsh Supermarkets, Anthem Blue Cross and other health care partners.
Fans can receive their 2012 flu shots and sign up for store shopping tours as part of the Purdue Tailgate Events beginning Aug. 31 at the Marsh supermarket on North Salisbury Street in West Lafayette, Ind.
Event partner St. Elizabeth School of Nursing will be on hand to test heart rate, blood pressure, blood glucose level and body mass index, with supplies provided by Roche Diagnostics. Marsh pharmacists will be administering traditional and intradermal flu shots for $24.99, along with the high-dose flu shot recommended for those 65 years and older for $49.99. Each person participating in a screening or receiving a flu shot can enter to win a $500 Marsh gift card, sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Volunteers from the American Diabetes Association along with Marsh pharmacists will be taking applications for store shopping tours October and December to be hosted by Mary Snell, Marsh’s director of nutrition and wellness.
At seven events through November, health screenings will be provided at no charge to participants. Each Friday session will offer a different theme according to the following schedule and Purdue’s opponent for that week, including diabetes, heart health, pre-natal care, cancer, obesity and smoking.
Indianapolis-based Marsh operates 93 supermarkets in Indiana and Ohio.
