Martin’s Super Markets Opens Popcorn Shoppe
Martin’s Super Markets is introducing a new line of Martin’s Signature Specialty Popcorn, which will be produced in its Granger location at 12850 Indiana 23.
The Popcorn Shoppe in Granger officially opened Dec. 10. By Feb. 1, customers will be able to purchase the Indiana-grown popcorn in individual and family-size packages at all of Martin’s 21 locations. Popcorn varieties include Marvelous Mix; CaramelKrunch with Praline Pecans; Deluxe CaramelKrunch with Honey Roasted Peanuts and White Chocolate Drizzle; Deluxe CheddarCorn; Deluxe CaramelCorn; Rainbow Munch-kin Mi; and seasonal selections Christmas Mix and Reindeer Trax.
“So many of our customers told us they were looking for a gourmet popcorn here in Michiana just like the kind they enjoy in Chicago and other large cities,” said Phil Plummer, Martin’s VP, sales and marketing. “We did a lot of research and made the decision to invest in the right equipment and the right people. We think the flavor combos we’ve developed are just right, and we have plans to introduce even more selections down the road.”
The company plans to extend the line with specialty roasted nuts and candy combinations, which also will be produced in the Granger Popcorn Shoppe, as well as value-oriented caramel, cheese and butter varieties to be sold in the stores’ snack aisle.
The inspiration for the Popcorn Shoppe came from Granger Store Manager Larry Hack who attended a business conference in Chicago and was influenced by the success of Garrett’s Popcorn, a specialty popcorn shop based in the city, as well as the sales a local supermarket achieved from similiar fare, according to a local news report in the South Bend Tribune.
