Meyer Natural Foods Acquires Dakota Beef
In a move that will further strengthen its industry leadership among natural and premium beef suppliers, Meyer Natural Foods is acquiring Howard, S.D.-based Dakota Beef, one of the largest and oldest certified organic beef brands in North America.
As part of the transaction, terms of which were not disclosed, the Loveland, Colo.-based Meyer Natural Foods has secured a long-term supply of organic Angus calves born on Dakota Beef’s historic, 150,000-acre, open-range organic ranch in Oregon.
“We are pleased to offer our retail and foodservice customers a gourmet line of USDA-certified organic beef with the Dakota Beef brand,” said Chris Boudinet, co-president of Meyer Natural Foods. The acquisition of Dakota “complements our existing portfolio of natural, premium and heart-healthy products under the Meyer Natural Angus and Laura’s Lean Beef brands,” added Boudinet.
Bob Meyer founded Meyer Natural Foods 20 years ago with a vision to consistently provide the industry’s highest quality, best tasting beef with a commitment to environmentally sound practices, humane animal treatment and personal integrity. Today, under the leadership of co-presidents Boudinet and Mike Day, the company’s product lines continue to meet the original vision while delivering on the evolving needs of retailers, foodservice operators and consumers.
