Molpus Returns to GMA as Interim PrezC.E.O.
The Grocery Manufacturers Association has appointed C. Manly Molpus interim president and c.e.o. of the trade group, replacing the outgoing Cal Dooley.
Molpus, currently president of his own consulting firm the Molpus Advisory Group, was president and c.e.o. of GMA from 1990 until 2006. He will slip back into the driver's seat at GMA Sept. 2, to serve as until the trade group names a permanent successor to Dooley, who has accepted the position of president and c.e.o. of the American Chemistry Council.
"As we work to find the next president and c.e.o. of GMA, we have asked Manly to take the helm of GMA on an interim basis," said Douglas R. Conant, chairman of the association's board of directors, as well as the president and c.e.o. of Campbell Soup Co. "Given his experience and knowledge of our industry, he is the logical choice to help guide the organization during this time of change."
Conant also noted that he and Molpus would work together "to ensure a smooth transition with the new GMA president and c.e.o."
