Nash Finch Launches National Program for Hispanic Community
MINNEAPOLIS - Food retailer and distributor Nash Finch has announced the grand opening of specialized food stores to serve the growing Hispanic marketplace. The first store is in Denver, Colo.
"We are delighted to officially open the first AVANZA store, because we believe our approach--developed and tested, by and for Hispanic people--fills a real need for this expanding national market. AVANZA food stores efficiently provide the products, as well as a comfortable and familiar environment, befitting this important community," said Ron Marshall, president and CEO of Nash Finch.
"It is also important to note that every aspect of our new Hispanic format is the product of ongoing market research, extensive focus group study and constant modification," Marshall continued. "The word AVANZA provides a short, easy-to-pronounce and memorable name that simply means `advance'. By making sure that our approach remains current and appropriate, the partnership of AVANZA stores and the Hispanic community nationwide will do just that," Marshall concluded.
The company said it selected Denver for its first store based on the large concentration of Hispanic area residents, plus focus group testing and market research that confirmed the potential of the locale for the citizens and the company alike.
