Nature's Path's Organic Program Manager Joins OTA Board
RICHMOND, B.C. -- Dag Felck, organic program manager at Nature's Path Foods here, has been appointed to the Organic Trade Association's board of directors. Falck came to Nature's Path in May 2003.
"As organic is becoming more of a mainstream brand and with annual growth rates in excess of 20 percent, there are many challenges facing this industry," said Falck in a statement. "Organic agriculture started with a small group of individualists who wanted to develop an alternative to mainstream chemically based agriculture. Now, as organic-culture is facing unprecedented success, the sector needs the skills to deal with expansion rather than maintaining the stoic resistance so necessary in the early days."
According to Falck, in his new position he will strive for effective, inclusive, and clear communication and collaboration in the organic food industry.
As organic program manager, Falck is responsible in part for developing and presenting seminars to producer, manufacturer and consumer groups so as to build strong industry networks. He has also served on the Canadian Organic Regulatory Committee.
"Nature's Path is appreciative of having a seat on the OTA board," noted Nature's Path founder and president Arran Stephens, a onetime OTA board member himself. "As the largest certified organic cereal producer in North America and operating as a family-owned company with deep roots in organic and sustainable practices, it is our intention to contribute to and advance the organic perspective while growing a successful industry that will transform the world." Stephens was also involved in OTA's efforts to develop the USDA's National Organic Program.
Nature's Path produces breakfast foods, snacks, and pasta that are sold in specialty foods stores and national retailers in more than 30 countries. The company's brands include Nature's Path, EnviroKidz, LifeStream, and Optimum.
