New Seasons Enhances Sustainability Commitment via Ecova Tech

New Seasons Market has selected Ecova, a Spokane, Wash.-headquartered provider of energy and sustainability management solutions, to provide comprehensive energy management services at its 18 Portland, Ore.-area stores, including utility expense management, telecom expense management, waste expense management and Energy Star reporting.

The Ecova platform combines data, technology and energy expertise to deliver insight needed to reduce organizational cost and consumption. New Seasons will leverage it to reduce cost, increase visibility into resource usage, and more accurately report sustainability efforts. The company has a strong commitment to sustainability, aiming for zero waste across its stores and focusing on local food resources.

Before deploying the Ecova platform, New Seasons had four touchpoints that handled aspects of utility management to facilitate complex utility account setup, invoice processing and data tracking. By injecting Ecova’s expertise into its data management process, New Seasons will have an efficient and effective view of what its spending and how it can serve and ensure those elements align with its sustainability goals.

“Our previous business process was highly inefficient,” said Sarah Joannides, director of social responsibility, New Seasons. “Ecova offered a solution that will streamline our practices significantly [and] assist us in auditing and reporting on usage, monitoring rate structures and managing jurisdictional reporting requirements.”

Portland, Ore.-based New Seasons Market operates 19 stores in Washington, Oregon and California, as well as five New Leaf Community Market locations in Northern California.
