NGA Reveals New Board Members, Chairman
Seven new board members and a new chairman, Joseph Sheridan, president and COO of Keasbey, N.J.-based Wakefern Food Corp. were introduced at the Feb. 12 opening session of the NGA Show in Las Vegas. Sheridan, who takes over from Chris Coborn, president and CEO of St. Cloud, Minn.-based Coborn’s Inc., has been with the largest retailer-owned food cooperative for 35 years.
“Independent grocers need a strong, effective voice in Washington, and NGA is important to our industry so elected leaders understand our issues and respond to our concerns,” noted Sheridan.
Among the new board members revealed were Marcy LeBlanc, president and CEO of LeBlanc's Food Stores in Gonzales, La.; Erick Taylor, president and CEO of Pyramid Foods RPCS Inc. in Springfield, Mo.; Jimmy Wright, president of Wrights Markets in Opelika, Ala.; David D'Arezzo, SVP/COO of The Grocers Supply Co. Inc. in Houston; Mike Stolarz, president and COO of Allegiance Retail Services LLC in Iselin, N.J.; Lisa Walsh, PepsiCo Inc. in Purchase, N.Y.; and Linda Doherty, president of the New Jersey Food Council in Trenton, N.J.
Outgoing board members are Carole Bittter, Friedman’s Freshmarkets in Butler, Pa.; James Brown, Doc’s Food Stores Inc. in Bixby, Okla.; Keith Hubbard, Western Supermarket Inc., in Birmingham, Ala.; Ron Rehkopf, Rehkopf’s Enterprises Inc., in Wake Village, Texas; and James Rogers, Food Alliance of New York State, in Albany, N.Y.
