NJFC Names Ass’t VP of Gov’t Affairs
Mary Ellen Peppard has joined the Trenton-based New Jersey Food Council as its assistant VP of government affairs.
“Mary Ellen has an impressive reputation as a seasoned and effective lobbyist in Trenton,” noted NJFC President Linda M. Doherty. “She previously served as assistant VP of government relations for the state chamber of commerce.”
Known for her strong coalition-building skills, Peppard brings a wealth of experience to her new position, including the abilities to advocate for pro-business issues, develop and interpret legislation and regulations, and act as a liaison to government agencies.
When the New Jersey state legislature returns from its summer break next month, health care exchange, minimum-wage proposals, organized retail theft issues, unit pricing reform and liquor licensing will be at the top of the NJFC agenda.
NJFC has more than 400 members representing 1,200-plus retail food stores, wholesalers, manufacturing and service companies that supply them.
