NONFOODS: FMI Show Preview: A sneak peek
Stir things up
The Cooking Master from Gourmet Simplicity is a fast cooker with automated stirring that can prepare most meals in three to six minutes. Users load ingredients raw, close the lid, and start the operation with the touch of a button. Automation allows a closed lid while food stirs, retaining moisture and flavor, according to the company. Fast cooking is ideal for nutrient-rich vegetables and tender meats. A nonstick inner pot allows for easy cleanup, says Gourmet Simplicity. (Booth No. 9369)

Low-carb dog treats
The low-carb craze and the humanization of pets meet in the form of low-carb dog treats made with real beef protein. Pet Central, the Sylvania, Ohio-based maker of Waggers brand dog treats, developed Waggers Champion Chips, a beef protein treat sourced from USDA-inspected facilities. Champion Chips are made with minimal ingredients: no wheat, no corn, and no fillers. The treat is also easy to break into small pieces for training or treating dogs of any size. The products are available in preloaded power wing formats or clip strips, in addition to open stock. Pet Central also offers sampling programs for retailers. (Booth No. 3882)

Nuke and steam
Healthy Fx has developed a microwavable pressure/steamer system that allows consumers to enjoy the benefits of steaming with a microwave oven. It's a closed-loop steaming system that captures nutrients, vitamins, and moisture, which is healthier, significantly reduces cooking time, and eliminates microwave splatter, according to the company. The recirculating steam will self-vent from the multiple exits each time the optimum pressure is reached. The system is suitable for most fresh and frozen foods. The product is available in reusable two-way-venting zippered pouches or one-time-use roll stock. (Booth No. 4130)
