November Retail Sales Weakest in Decade
NEW YORK - U.S. retailers reported the weakest sales growth for November since the recession of 1990, Reuters reports.
Discount chains such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Target Corp. continued to outpace other retailers. Shoppers avoided splurging at department stores and specialty retailers, opting instead for products for the home, such as food, housewares and fabric.
U.S. consumer confidence declined for a fifth straight month in November, and is its lowest level in more than seven years, Reuters reports.
