NRA Expands Food Safety Program to Supermarkets
CHICAGO - With assistance from supermarket industry experts, the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) has expanded the ServSafe program to include a new line of training materials developed specifically for the supermarket industry.
This new program is based on trusted ServSafe principles but has additional content targeted toward deli, bakery, seafood, meat and produce retailers. ServSafe Essentials for Supermarkets contains supermarket-specific case studies, exercises, resources, glossary items and the 2001 FDA Food Code updates. Upon completion of the course, participants will have the information needed to handle food safely in the supermarket environment and to prepare for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination.
Also available is a complete ServSafe Instructor Toolkit for Supermarkets, featuring an Instructor Guide, Instructor CD-ROM with Presentation Pack, and Food Safety Showdown! game.
Interested retailers should call the foundation's customer service line at (800) 715-5369. Beginning April 9, the Website will also have information: www.nraef.org
