NSF International Buys Davis Fresh Technologies
ANN ARBOR, Mich and APTOS, Calif. - NSF International (NSF), an independent, non-profit public health and food safety solutions provider, has acquired Davis Fresh Technologies, a premier provider of food safety audits and consulting for the perishable food industry.
The acquisition, which extends NSF's reach of providing solutions to clients worldwide interested in food safety at every stage of the supply chain, brings together two respected third-party food safety organizations, which will work together to provide unmatched certification and audit services to the food industry. The acquisition will also complement other services provided by NSF's organic certification subsidiary, Quality Assurance International (QAI, Inc.) and NSF Cook & Thurber, which provides food processor consultative auditing services.

"The acquisition of Davis Fresh strengthens our goal of providing a comprehensive portfolio of food safety services," said NSF International president and c.e.o. Kevan P. Lawlor. "With its strong position in produce and other food markets, Davis Fresh is a strategic addition to the NSF brand. By combining Davis Fresh's auditing capabilities and technical expertise with NSF's comprehensive food safety and organic certification services, NSF is well positioned to offer a total food safety solution from farm to fork."
Key clients who will benefit from this acquisition include retailers, processors, buyers, restaurants and all companies interested in technical food safety solutions and consulting that provide brand protection.
Davis Fresh's leading position in Chile and Peru will give NSF a significant presence in the South American market, and it will provide additional audit services to meet the individual requirements of customers worldwide. The presence will also complement NSF's work in nearly 100 countries, and provide Davis Fresh clients' access to organic certification with a combined organic and food safety audit.
NSF-Davis Fresh will reach out to key stakeholders to offer combined quality/certification services. NSF will work with clients to meet food safety needs throughout their supply chain and back to the fields where produce is grown.
"Davis Fresh has built a long-standing history of meeting and exceeding the expectations of clients, and this acquisition will build on that commitment by offering third-party services to assure brand protection," said Craig Bowden, president of Davis Fresh Technologies.
