NTF Urges Consumers to Grill Turkey
To mark the 28th annual June is Turkey Lovers’ Month and 2nd annual National Turkey Lovers’ Day, which coincides with Father’s Day on Sunday, June 18, the Washington, D.C.-based National Turkey Federation (NTF) will provide a Turkey Grilling Tip Sheet, along with a collection of on-trend, restaurant -inspired grilling recipes from ServeTurkey.org and @ServeTurkey on Twitter and Facebook.
“Our guests come to us to discover new and exciting proteins to cook at home, which leads us right to turkey,” said Patrick Cassata, corporate executive chef of Chicago-area Standard Market and a member of NTF’s advisory board. “Its versatility and ability to absorb bold flavors is tremendous. My favorite dish, a grilled turkey cutlet marinated with fresh lemon juice, garlic, parsley, sea salt, fresh cracked pepper and olive oil, served over lemon, olive oil and garlic pasta, makes for an extremely lean and flavorful meal that elevates turkey far above other proteins."
That protein is more popular than ever: According to the NTF, turkey consumption more than doubled since 1970, which the organization attributes to "consumers' recognition of turkey's good taste and nutritional value."
