PBH to Launch 'Over the Hedge' Promo at Wal-Mart
WILMINGTON, Del. -- The Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) here said yesterday it was launching an in-store event, "Go Over the Hedge for Good Health" in more than 2,000 Wal-Mart Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets across the country May 21. The promotion ties into the opening of the DreamWorks movie "Over the Hedge," by encouraging families with children to eat a colorful variety of fruits and vegetables daily for good health.
Characters from the movie star in an activity book and recipe book developed by the PBH and the following suppliers: Chelan Fresh Marketing; Cott Beverages, Inc.; Del Monte Foods; Desert Glory Limited; Dole Fresh Vegetables; Hidden Valley, The Original Ranch Dressing; the Mushroom Alliance, which includes Quincy Farms, Creekside, Kitchen Pride and JM Farms; Ocean Spray; the Oppenheimer Group; RICH-SEAPAK Corp.; Tanimura & Antle, Inc; and Sunkist Growers.
Additionally, the respective Web sites of PBH and DreamWorks will provide a link to "Go Over the Hedge for Good Health" so children can continue to learn more about fruits and vegetables at home. The foundation's site will also offer a free downloadable version of the kids' activity book, starting the day after the Wal-Mart event.
The activity book for children features counting and matching games that encourage children to eat more fruits and vegetables, while the recipe book offers 14 recipes, including Baked Broccoflower Casserole, Zoolicious Fruit Cup, Wild and Wacky Potion, and Sunny Shrimp Wrap.
Since the Wal-Mart/PBH/supplier promotion series kicked off in August 2004, there have been seven events. Among the well-known characters showcased in the promotions have been Shrek, Charlie Brown, and Curious George.
