Penn Traffic Taps Broomfield to Head Retail Operations
SYRACUSE, N.Y -- The Penn Traffic Company hired industry veteran Mike Broomfield as its senior v.p. of retail stores. He will be responsible for the operations and financial results of all 216 Penn Traffic supermarkets in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, upstate New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire.

"His expertise will help us implement our long-term business strategies, which include enhancing merchandising and improving operations at all of our supermarkets."
Broomfield began his career in retail food operations with J. Sainsbury PLC, where he held several key management positions, including senior v.p. of Shaw's Supermarkets. He was most c.o.o. of Giant Foods.
Penn Traffic operates 216 supermarkets under banners including Big Bear, Bi-Lo, and P&C. It also operates a wholesale food distribution business serving 82 licensed franchises and 67 independent operators.
