PepsiCo SVP Joins N.G.A. Board of Directors
The National Grocers Association (N.G.A.) has appointed Van Sapp, SVP at PepsiCo, Inc. in Chicago, as its newest board member, replacing Ted Herrod, SVP of the grocery channel for PepsiCo.
“Van’s background and talent will be a great addition to N.G.A.’s leadership,” said Chris Coborn, N.G.A. chairman and president, and CEO of St. Cloud, Minn.-based Coborn’s, Inc.
Sapp began his career at PepsiCo in 1999. He has held a variety of positions in the areas of franchise development, sales, marketing, and consumer promotions. In October 2008, Sapp became SVP accountable for warehouse sales.
Prior to his career at PepsiCo, he was with Kraft Foods in a number of different roles, including classic sales (MBA Fast Track), sales planning, marketing and field management. He received a BA in business from Tuskegee University and an MBA from Clark Atlanta University, and has been involved with a number of other associations, including Breakthrough Collaborative, the Illinois Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Executive Leadership Council.
Sapp joins representatives of three other manufacturers — Kellogg Co., Unilever, and Kraft Foods — on the N.G.A. board of directors.
Arlington, Va.-based N.G.A. is the national trade association representing the retail and wholesale grocers that comprise the independent sector of the food distribution industry.
