Pilliter Moves from Unified Western Grocers to Trader Joe's
MONROVIA, Calif. - Charles J. Pilliter, formerly executive vice president and chief operating officer at Unified Western Grocers, has joined Monrovia, California-based Trader Joe's Co. as senior vice president, operations.
Pilliter had recently been promoted at UWG, where he previously served as executive vice president, sales and marketing. Alfred A. Plamann, president and CEO, UWG, said an announcement about Pilliter's replacement would be made soon. Pilliter also is the current chairman of the National Grocers Association.
Trader Joe's has more than 130 stores in 15 mostly West and East Coast states, and offers upscale grocery fare such as health foods, organic produce, and nutritional supplements. The company's specialty is its line of more than 800 private-label products.
