Price Chopper to Deploy Price Optimization Solution
The Golub Corp., which operates the Price Chopper supermarket chain in the Northeast United States, plans to implement price optimization software to enhance its pricing strategies in today’s tough economic climate.
The grocer will use the Lifecycle Price Optimization solution from San Carlos, Calif.-based DemandTec, which includes the vendor’s Everyday Price Management and Everyday Price Optimization software services.
“We selected DemandTec because we share the same vision for aligning and optimizing pricing to drive financial results and price image,” said Joe Kelley VP of sales and merchandising for Price Chopper. “DemandTec’s proven experience in the marketplace and superior science gave us the confidence to select them as a strategic partner for these initiatives.”
DemandTec Lifecycle Price Optimization, which also includes Promotion Planning & Optimization and Markdown Optimization, allows retailers to strategically price items at any stage in their lifecycle -- including new items, regular retails, promoted items and clearance items.
The Golub Corp., based in Schenectady, N.Y., owns and operates 116 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
