Price Chopper Holding Conn. Anniversary Celebrations
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- This week Price Chopper Supermarkets here is hosting a series of anniversary celebrations at its Bristol and Southington, Conn. stores. Among the scheduled festivities are senior days, pharmacy clinics, floral clinics, Citizen Bank giveaways, contests, raffles, and prizes. Activities for children include free press-on tattoos and balloons. Additionally, shoppers will be able to sample products in the grocer's pizza, deli departments, as well as at various specialty stations.
Both locations opened three years ago on the same date, Jan. 20, community and public relations representative JoAnn LaPorta explained to Progressive Grocer. The company plans similar events for its other Connecticut stores' anniversaries, to give back to its customers there, she added.
Each store is also hosting a free shopping spree contest, with one person, per store randomly selected throughout the week. to participate. Additionally, a natural food basket drawing will be held at each location.
An anniversary cake will be cut at each store Jan. 25, accompanied by what the retailer calls "several fun events."
According to a statement by LaPorta: "This is our way to show our neighbors in Connecticut that we value their business and are proud to be part of their community."
Price Chopper also operates Connecticut stores in Newington, Putnam, Torrington, Vernon, and Waterbury.
The family-owned Golub Corp. owns and operates 115 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Golub's approximately 24,000 associates collectively own 51 percent of the company's privately held stock.
