Publix to Add Fresh Meat to GreenWise Brand
LAKELAND, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets, Inc. is looking into extending its health-minded GreenWise brand to the meat case, according to a report in the Lakeland Ledger.
The regional retailer plans to introduce GreenWise chicken first. The chickens are antibiotic-free and raised on vegetarian diets. After that, GreenWise beef and pork will likely be introduced.
Publix launched GreenWise private label products in 2002. So far, the name has been limited to shelf-stable foods, paper products, and dairy products.
As Progressive Grocer has previously reported, Publix plans to debut two stand-alone GreenWise Market locations in Florida sometime next year.
