Raley's Senior Exec Named Chair of California Grocers Assn.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Bill Anderson, e.v.p. and c.f.o. of regional independent Raley's, West Sacramento, Calif. was yesterday named chairman of the board of The California Grocers Association (CGA), as the trade group elected its 2006-2007 slate of officers and new board of directors during its annual meeting in Las Vegas.
"CGA's board of directors represents an excellent cross section of both grocery retailers and suppliers," said Peter Larkin, president of CGA, based here. "This unique diversity allows us to understand issues both from large supermarket chains and small independent grocers."

CGA members elected to the board's executive committee include: first vice chair, Richard Morgan, Jr., Holiday Quality/Sav-Mor Foods, Cottonwood, Calif.; second vice chair, Kevin Herglotz, Safeway Inc., Pleasanton, Calif.; treasurer, Bob Ling, Unified Western Grocers, Inc., Commerce, Calif.; secretary, George Frahm, Stater Bros. Markets, Colton, Calif.; and immediate past chair Jay McCormack, Rio Ranch Markets, Riverside, Calif.
Chairman appointments to the executive committee include Sue de Boer, Crossmark; Ann Hall, 7-Eleven, Inc.; and Bill Robinson, Pepsi Bottling Group.
Directors elected to a second three-year term include: Benjamin Bequer, Fiesta Food Warehouse; and Bill Robinson, Pepsi Bottling Group.
Elected as new directors for their first three-year term: Norm Carhill, Ralphs Grocery Co., Compton, Calif.; Bill Cote, Superior Super Warehouse, Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; Kevin Davis, Bristol Farms, Carson, Calif.; Richard Draeger, Draeger's Supermarkets, Menlo Park, Calif.; Rick DuCharme, Sara Lee Food and Beverage, Sacramento, Calif.; Bill Healy, Bell-Carter Olive Co., Lafayette, Calif.; John Pellington, Focus Brands West, Oceanside, Calif.; Jim Schulz, Weyerhaeuser, Buena Park, Calif.; and Donna Tyndall, Gelson's Markets, Encino, Calif.
Former CGA chair Bob Stiles, Gelson's Markets, was elected as an honorary member of the board.
The California Grocers Association is a non-profit, statewide trade association representing the food industry since 1898. CGA represents approximately 500 retail members operating more than 6,000 food stores in California and Nevada, and approximately 200 grocery supplier companies.
