Redner's Names New Board Members, Staff Promotions

Redner's Markets, Inc. has appointed two new members to its board of directors while also making several senior staff promotions.

Douglas Emore, v.p. of maintenance/construction and real estate and John W. Sweigart, v.p. of information technology, have joined the Reading, Pa.-grocer's board of directors; while Cory Deily has been upped to director of security and loss prevention; Nicholas Hidalgo to director of information; Michael J. Mowad to senior deli merchandiser/category manager and; David D. Peterson to senior meat/seafood merchandiser/category manager.

Emore, whose board appointment is effective immediately, was promoted to his present post in February and reports to company president, Richard Redner.

Sweigart joined the company in 1987 as a store bookkeeper and worked his up through a variety of positions in store management and frozen/dairy category supervision. In 1992, he was promoted to director of Redner's automated retailing systems. In his new position, Sweigart will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Redner's warehouse markets and quick shoppe information systems, which will encompass meeting of budgetary requirements and introduction and deployment of new technologies for the company. He will also report directly to Richard Redner.

Joining Redner's in 2005 as a supervisor for the loss prevention department's second shift operations, Deily in his new post will manage the day-to-day operations of regional loss prevention agents and company-wide security measures, as well as utilizing new security technologies. Deily has 20 years of loss prevention experience previously working in the security technology industry with Security Service Company, Inc. before joining Redner's.

Hidalgo began his career with Redner's in 1996, working the third shift as a stock clerk for Redner's while attending school to earn a degree in networking technology. He was later promoted to a regional networking technician providing support to store's networking infrastructure and maintenance of all technology and hardware. He subsequently headed up the company's network security functions and administered all electronic information processes. In his new position, Hidalgo will direct the company's networking, electronic security measures, new technology and hardware strategies, and will be responsible for the management of regional networking technicians and general operations of Redner's day-to-day information systems. He will report to Sweigart.

Mowad joined Redner's in 1991 as a deli department manager and promoted to a meat/deli and seafood district merchandiser in 1994. In his new position, Mowad will coordinate all retail operations for the deli department and oversee a team of regional deli supervisors for the warehouse market operations. He will also manage the merchandising and retail strategies for the deli category and also implement new programs and will report to the v.p. of perishable operations.

Joining Redner's in 1982 as a meat department, clean up and deli clerk, Peterson entered the meat apprentice program and later became a meat department manager in 1995. Working in a variety of stores for the next five years, Peterson was promoted to a meat district management position in 1999. In his new capacity, he will coordinate all retail operations for the meat/seafood departments and oversee a team of regional department supervisors in the warehouse market division. He will also have management of the merchandising and retail strategies for the meat/seafood category and will report to the v.p. of perishable operations.

Redner's Markets, Inc., an employee owned company, currently operates 39 Warehouse Markets and 12 Quick Shoppes throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland.
