Redner's Opening New Supermarket This Week

READING, Pa. -- Redner's Warehouse Markets, based here, said late last week it would open a 56,000-square-foot location in the Hamburg Commons shopping center in Hamburg, Pa. on Wednesday, June 29 at 8 a.m., with a public open house to be held tomorrow from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The store will be the 10th Redner's location in Pennsylvania's Berks County.

The supermarket, located at the site of an Ames Department Store that closed three years ago, after the Ames chain went bankrupt, includes an in-store bakery, a full-service deli, and fresh meat, produce, and seafood departments, as well as an in-store CTCE Federal Credit Union branch. Shoppers will have the option of using three self-checkout lines. The store will employ about 150 associates.

Additionally, the supermarket will feature the first One-Stop Shop in the county, in a leased 3,828-square-foot space leased by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, which currently operates nine wine and spirits shops within grocery stores in the state. The shop, which is slated to open in late autumn, will have its own entrance inside the supermarket.

With the opening of the Hamburg store, Redner's will have 38 markets and 11 Quick Shoppes in eastern Pennsylvania and New York.
