Registration Opens For 2006 United Produce Show at FMI
Washington, D.C. -- Registration for the 2006 United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association (United) Produce Show in Chicago, May 6-9 officially begins today. United, as one of five major food trade associations, will co-locate with the annual FMI Show, which will also host the Fancy Foods Show, U.S. Food Export Showcase, and All Things Organic.
The combined "Power of Five" show will feature more than one million square-feet of exhibits and draw buyers and decision makers from throughout the produce supply chain. Bringing together entire produce management teams from all retail channels including supermarkets, wholesalers, specialty food stores, restaurant chains and c-stores, the 2006 Produce Show will offer unprecedented opportunities for new partnerships, ideas, and innovations for the produce industry and its partners.
"The food business is an exciting business to be in these days," said United convention committee co-chair Jim Lemke, v.p. of produce for transportation and logistics specialist C.H. Robinson. "There's no better place than the Produce Show at FMI to see or even become a part of the latest and most successful industry trends. The Power of Five showcases the newest and best food products services on the market, and United provides the produce industry with a unique opportunity to revolutionize the way it does business and surpass the competition for shelf space."
The Produce Show will feature a new, invitation-only Retail Executive Forum, in which a select group of top customer executives meets with United exhibitors for an off-the-record, intimate discussion of key issues affecting the produce industry. Also new, the Expo Hall will feature a Produce Show Hospitality Center, which aims to be the central meeting place on the show floor and will feature daily networking opportunities, including theme receptions showcasing delicious fresh produce, VIP meetings, interactive activities, and more.
In addition, United has expanded its Retail Produce Manager Awards Program to 20 winners, and for the first time also will bring award winners' produce directors to the show. The year-long program, sponsored by Ready Pac Produce, honors supermarket associates that work every day to increase sales and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.
"The FMI Show is a must-attend event for retailers, and combining the Produce Show with the FMI Show has really given produce the same recognition as other sectors in the food industry," said United convention committee co-chair Mark Hilton, v.p. of produce/floral for Harris Teeter. "I especially like having the opportunity to walk the Produce Show with my boss, who would attend the FMI show anyway. It gives us some dedicated time that we wouldn't otherwise have."
To help attendees get maximum value for their tradeshow experience, United is offering an, "All-Access Produce Convention Pass," a single ticket for all five trade shows, access to all FMI education, including SPEAKS, and all UFFVA education and networking events.
