Remodeled Hannaford to Reopen Tomorrow
SCARBOROUGH, Maine -- A newly renovated Hannaford Supermarket in Belfast, Maine, featuring expanded departments and new services and products, will reopen tomorrow morning to the strains of a bagpipe played by a company associate and a flag raising performed by American Legion representatives.
The 57,000-square-foot store was expanded by 12,000 square feet during the remodel.
The first 500 customers at the store will receive a free wooden recipe box, and all shoppers will be able to sample an assortment of items throughout the day. Customers can also sign up at the store to win a kitchen makeover worth $6,500, and drawings for Hannaford gift cards will be held daily. The winner of the kitchen makeover contest will be announced on July 21 as part of a live radio broadcast by WKSQ at 12:15 in the store's parking lot.
Among the new amenities at the remodeled store is the addition of four self-checkout lanes.
Also new to the Belfast store is Nature's Place, Hannaford's signature natural and organic foods section. The department includes a line of vitamins, supplements, herbal remedies, as well as a wide assortment of natural health and beauty care items, among them soaps, deodorants, and shampoos. Nature's Place further offers frozen and dairy sections, including whole-food dinners, meat alternatives, soy products, vegetarian pizzas, pot pies, and organic frozen fruits and vegetables, as well as organic yogurts, cheeses, milk, soy alternatives, and organic spreads. Among the section's other are organic and natural snacks, and bulk rice, beans, grains, and other products.
Expanded departments include a full-service Butcher Shop, which will provide a variety of freshly prepared entrees, including seasoned ready-to-cook meats and poultry; a "Neighborhood Deli" that has been enlarged to include a sushi bar and panini sandwiches; and a "Harvest Market" that now also includes a large offering of freshly cut melon. The store will now carry the complete line of Hannaford Inspirations, a private brand line of more than 400 premium-quality foods, including such new offerings as sorbetto and gelato, and Fast & Fresh Cuisine, a line of convenient four-minute home meal solutions. Additionally, a separate pharmacy entrance has been added for greater customer convenience.
"Our customers and associates have been terrifically supportive throughout the expansion," said Belfast store manager Mike Dawes. "The grand reopening provides us with the opportunity to thank the community for its ongoing patronage." To show the company's appreciation, Dawes will donate more than $6,000 to local organizations, with checks to be presented on Friday, June 30 at the store.
Additionally, Hannaford will sponsor a Sept. 21 production of "FOODPLAY" for Capt. Albert W. Stevens School in Belfast. The theater show combines juggling, music, magic, and audience participation with motivating health messages to help children make choices to ensure their future health and fitness.
The Belfast store's hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Pharmacy hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
