RILA Adds Five Execs to Board

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) elected five industry executives to its board of directors during the board’s semi-annual meeting on Jan. 28 in Los Angeles. Also during the meeting, Walmart president and CEO Bill Simon was re-elected to the board. Executives joining the board serve two-year terms.

The new board members are Hubert Joly, president and CEO, Best Buy Co. Inc.; Glen Walter, president and COO, Coca-Cola Refreshments; Madison Riley, managing partner, North American retail and consumer product group, Kurt Salmon; Todd Tillemans, president, customer development, Unilever; and David Steiner, president and CEO, Waste Management.

“The addition of these chief executives and their knowledge is invaluable to our organization,” said Sandy Kennedy, president of Arlington, Va.-based RILA. “The RILA board of directors plays a critical role in guiding the association to deliver positive results on behalf of our members.”

The board, which meets in person twice annually, comprises top-level executives from many of the largest and most innovative retail companies in the United States.

Besides the newly elected members, Simon and Kennedy, the 2013 board includes Gregg Steinhafel, chairman, president and CEO, Target Corp. (chairman); Richard Dreiling, chairman and CEO, Dollar General Corp. (vice chairman); Gregory Wasson, CEO and president, Walgreen Co. (second vice chairman); Lou D’Ambrosio, president and CEO, Sears Holdings Corp.; Joseph DePinto, president and CEO, 7-Eleven Inc.; and Walter Robb, co-CEO, Whole Foods Market Inc.
