RILA, RLC Wrap Up Retail Law Conference
The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) and Retail Litigation Center (RLC) concluded their second annual Retail Law Conference Nov. 9 in Chicago. The event featured presentations addressed a range of critical legal issues currently confronting the industry.
“We ended this year’s conference on a great note,” said Sandy Kennedy, president of Arlington, Va.-based RILA. “There has been fantastic dialogue around so many important issues this week. The presentations were outstanding, and we continue to hear how valuable the content is to attendees and how important this conference is to the professional development of retailers and their legal teams.” A third conference is planned for next year, added Kennedy.
The final day began with a panel of current and former attorneys general, who discussed the factors that come into play when enforcing laws, and how corporations can work effectively with states’ law enforcement officials. Later, attendees heard from retail counsel about the pitfalls, advantages and best ways to deal with social media, mobile applications, and the privacy issues that accompany them. Finally, conference participants discussed the always timely topic of ethics.
The conference is open to retail and consumer product general counsel, senior legal executives, and in-house attorneys and their teams.
