Ron Griffin to Join Fleming as Executive VP, Chief Information Officer

DALLAS - Fleming on Monday announced Ron Griffin will join the company as executive vice president and chief information officer. Griffin now serves as senior vice president and chief information officer for The Home Depot Inc. Griffin will join Fleming upon completion of his current responsibilities in early 2002 and will report to Fleming chairman and CEO Mark Hansen.

"Fully leveraged technology is a cornerstone of best-in-class supply chains, and we are committed to making the necessary investments and having the quality IT leadership that is central to Fleming's success in this area," said Hansen. "Ron's accomplishments are widely recognized in the retail and technology industries. We are pleased that he is bringing to Fleming his tremendous understanding of technology's role in the efficient supply chain, along with his strong values and proven track record for creating a great working environment for associates."

"In leaving The Home Depot, I felt it would be difficult to find a business and an opportunity that I could get as passionate about. I wanted a place where there are great leaders, great talent and a chance to re-define an industry again. I've found that at Fleming," said Griffin. "Fleming is at a very exciting point today, entering what I believe will prove to be a long and prosperous journey for customers, associates and shareholders. I am delighted to be joining such a talented and focused team, positioned to be the clear industry leader."

During his 10 years at The Home Depot, Griffin served in a number of key positions within the IT function and led the team through a period of phenomenal growth. A 20-year IT veteran, Griffin's career has been primarily focused on leveraging technology for greater supply chain efficiencies in the retail sector.

Bill Marquard, Fleming executive vice president and chief knowledge officer, will continue his responsibilities for leading the Kmart alliance and supporting the current redesign of Fleming's business processes supported by technology.
