Sam’s Club Offers Expanded Generic Rx Savings
Sam’s Club has expanded its prescription savings program to enable its Plus and Business Plus members to receive certain generic prescriptions at no charge, or for $4 or $10, at all of the retailer's pharmacies. The expansion is part of Sam's Club Extra Value Drug List (EVDL), through which Plus and Business Plus members also get 10 percent to 30 percent savings on some brand-name medications.
Under the expanded program, five generic prescriptions, used to treat Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and men's and women's health issues, are available free in specified quantities in 35 states. Further, more than 200 generic prescriptions are available for $4 and 400-plus generic prescriptions are available for $10 every day.
All members with active Plus memberships can use the prescription discount benefit by presenting their Plus membership card and a valid prescription at participating Sam's Club pharmacies. Other health-and-wellness benefits available to Plus members include up to 40 percent savings on certain generic prescriptions and up to 8 percent on name-brand prescriptions not part of the EVDL program when paying without insurance; $50 off frames with the purchase of a year's supply of contact lenses; and 8 percent off pet medications.
"Sam's Club is always looking for ways to help improve the health of our communities and provide exceptional value to our members," noted Jill Turner-Mitchael, SVP, Sam's Club health and wellness. "That's why we created an extensive list of prescriptions to offer at substantial savings to our Plus and Business Plus members, especially those who are under or uninsured. It's part of our ongoing commitment to making health care more accessible and affordable."
