Save Mart Expands Relationship with IrI

MODESTO, Calif. -- Save Mart Supermarkets here has expanded its relationship with Chicago-based Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) that will broaden the chain's reportable store census to all 248 of its owned units, including Save Mart's Lucky and Food Maxx banners, from the previous coverage of 80 stores.

With the enhanced coverage, the privately held chain will be able to better analyze its sales, promotion, pricing, and product mix, Save Mart officials said.

The insights will help to evaluate our performance and determine the impact of how we go to market across all banners," said Robert Dyer, Save Mart's v.p./center store.

Under the new agreement, Save Mart is subscribing to the IRI Retail Network, a Web-based market information portal that will provide Save Mart's merchandising team with desktop access to marketplace insights that will enhance decision making and strengthen the category management process, said Save Mart. Save Mart's suppliers can also access sales and share performance information for the new banners.

Save Mart Supermarkets operates 248 stores throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada under its namesake, Lucky, S-Mart Foods, and Food Maxx banners.
