Save Mart Supermarkets Sponsors Golf Tournament to Benefit Boy Scouts of America
Save Mart Supermarkets and the Save Mart stores in Northern Nevada will sponsor the 25th Annual Golf Classic benefiting the Nevada Area Council, Boy Scouts of America June 8 at the Montreux Golf and Country Club, a private membership course in Reno, Nev.
“As we celebrate its silver anniversary, this well-supported tournament enables the Boy Scouts to fund programs that build character and citizenship among the youth in local troops,” said David Stachofsky, store manager of the Save Mart on West Plumb Lane in Reno and official tournament host. “Every participant in the tournament is making an investment in the next generation of community and business leaders.”
Participants in this year’s golf classic include Save Mart employees and representatives from Anheuser-Busch/Morry Distributing; AT&T; Bank of America; Cargill; Crown Beverages; DP Partners/Irish Capital, LLC; Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream; Dr. Pepper/7-Up Distributing; E&J Gallo Winery/Luce & Son; Frito-Lay; Garden Highway; Kellogg/Keebler; Heineken/Luce & Son; Mission Foods; Model Dairy; Coors/New West Distributing; Pepsi Bottling Group; Ranson Webster; Sales Mark Duo; Sara Lee; Coca-Cola/Swire; U.S. Bank; Wells Fargo Bank; Weaver Popcorn Co.; Wirtz Beverage Nevada; and the Boy Scouts board.
“The funds we raise at this annual event are used to provide program support to more than 10,000 youths and their leaders throughout northern Nevada and northeastern California,” said Lynn Olson, finance director of the Nevada Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. “This includes year-round adult leadership training, camping facilities maintenance, outdoor activities, literature, individual assistance grants, individual Scout records maintenance and general liability insurance for scout leaders. The funds also support our Scoutreach program, which serves more than 2,000 at-risk youth.”
Montreux Golf and Country Club is the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Design golf course in northern Nevada. The course, which is home to the PGA Tour, winds through nearly 7,500 yards of the Montreux private community.
Modesto, Calif.-based Save Mart operates more than 240 stores throughout northern California and northern Nevada under the Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky and FoodMaxx banners.
