Schnucks Enjoys Sweet Valentine's Day Floral, Greeting Card Sales
ST. LOUIS -Schnuck Markets Inc. here helped customers enjoy a sweet Valentine's Day, by distributing approximately 1.5 million individual flower blossoms to stores to meet customers' needs for the popular holiday.
"Valentine's Day continues to involve a celebration of roses of all varieties and colors," said Schnucks floral category manager Michael Schrader. "Our supply chain is extensive to ensure that our customers have access to the best quality flowers at great values. There are new varieties of flowers emerging and new trends involving changes in color themes and how our customers accessorize their homes daily as well as for special holiday celebrations. Flowers are an integral part of the changes happening in homes across the nation."
Schnucks sold long-stem roses on a walk-in basis at $34.99 per dozen and custom vase arrangements for $59.99. In addition, half dozen rose bouquets of all colors and blooming plants were specially priced at $19.
Schnucks GM category manager Lon Schwake also picked up on new colors and design trends in his department.
"Not only is chocolate candy popular for the season, chocolate and dark brown color accents are showing up in Valentine's Day accessories including cards, glassware and fabrics," Schwake said. "In addition, manufacturers are updating and upgrading the fabrics used in plush stuffed animals resulting in a softer feel and look making them perfect for gift giving or for inclusion in baskets."
Schwake said Valentine's Day is the biggest greeting card holiday for Schnucks.
