ShopRite Dispatching ‘Chefs On Call’ for Thanksgiving Pointers

After fielding over 350 calls last year, ShopRite is again trotting out its Culinary Workshop Chefs to provide customers with advice and expertise for holiday meals. The regional retailer’s team of top chefs will be on call to help guide both seasoned cooks and beginners alike through their holiday meal plans and preparations from Sunday, Nov. 22 through Thanksgiving Day.

In addition to answering questions received via its year-round 800-service customer care hotline, the chefs will also share preparation tips and kitchen-tested recipe ideas that are sure to complement the most treasured traditional holiday meals.

“Chefs on Call provides our customers with such a unique customer service experience,” said ShopRite corporate executive chef Faith Alahverdian. “Not only can customers have experienced, professionally trained chefs help them create the finest holiday meal possible, but our chefs are [also] able to connect with customers in a personal way, said Alahverdian, noting that the personal connection “is truly what makes ShopRite everyone’s ‘neighborhood grocery store.’”

ShopRite will provide all callers who provide an e-mail address with some of the most popular holiday recipes from its Culinary Workshop, which was created over 10 years ago and offers hands-on cooking classes by professional chefs in 45 stores. For a nominal $20 fee, guests can attend a two-hour class and fully participate in the preparation of an entire meal.

ShopRite supermarkets are members of Edison, N.J.-based Wakefern Food Corp., a retailer-owned cooperative that operates over 200 stores throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.
