‘ShopRite From Home’ Comes to West Hartford

ShopRite of West Hartford in Connecticut has made the “ShopRite from Home” online grocery ordering service available to its customers. Currently, 60 stores in the chain offer the service, serving 79 locations throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland, according to a spokeswoman for Keasbey, N.J.-based Wakefern Food Corp., the retail co-op whose 46 members operate stores under the ShopRite banner.

Using ShopRite from Home, shoppers can place grocery orders online from home or with a mobile device at www.ShopRite.com, by selecting their local store and the products they want to buy. As well as receiving the same prices and selection as in the physical stores, users of the service can use their ShopRite Price Plus cards and coupons for further savings. Customers can even specify how they’d like their deli meats sliced, what particular cuts of meat they prefer or what type of apples they’d like.

Store staffers carefully choose and pack the items, which are delivered to shoppers’ homes at pre-selected times or brought right out to their cars for curbside pickup at a specially designated parking spot at the store. Curbside delivery costs $9.95, while home delivery is an additional $5.95.

“We know that people are busy, and we’d like to help make things a little easier for them,” said Chuck Joseph, president of Joseph Family Markets, owner and operator of the ShopRites of West Hartford and Canton, which are both in Connecticut. “ShopRite from Home lets you shop from wherever you are and have groceries delivered at your convenience.”

With more than 200 supermarkets, ShopRite serves more than 5 million customers weekly.
