Starbucks Introducing New RTD Beverage, Extensions at Grocers
SEATTLE -- Starbucks Coffee Co., here is adding to its lineup of ready-to-drink coffee products by introducing Starbucks Iced Coffee in the United States through the North American Coffee Partnership, a joint venture with Chicago-based PepsiCo. The beverage will be available at Starbucks stores in March, and regular and light varieties will arrive in grocery and convenience stores across the country in May.
The new item is a cold coffee drink made with Starbucks Italian Roast coffee and "just a touch of milk and sweetness," according to the company. In addition to rolling out Starbucks Iced Coffee, the partnership is introducing two line extensions within its Starbucks DoubleShot and bottled Starbucks Frappuccino brands.
Starbucks DoubleShot Light, which has less fat and sugar and fewer calories than the original DoubleShot, and Starbucks Strawberries and Creme Frappuccino creme drink, a blend of real strawberries and low-fat milk, as well as the first coffee-free bottled Starbucks Frappuccino creme drink, will both roll out to grocery and c-stores nationally in May.
Through the North American Coffee Partnership, Starbucks introduced bottled Frappuccino coffee drinks in 1996 and the DoubleShot espresso drink in 2002. The items are currently the No. 1 products in their respective segments of the U.S. RTD coffee category in the United States.
Starbucks has more than 10,500 retail locations in North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific Rim.
